Birth, pregnancy, and mental health
Whilst having a child can bring much joy there can sometimes be significant mental health challenges before or after a birth (known as the perinatal period). The strains of pregnancy, childbirth, and early motherhood can take a toll on a woman's/birth parent's well-being, leading to mental health problems such as ante or postnatal depression, anxiety, obbsesive compulsive disorder, and postpartum psychosis. And it is important to recognise that their partners can also experience many of the same problems too. This article looks at sources of help and things to try.
